Stanwood Middle School Families!

We hope this message finds you safe and healthy.  Please know that we truly miss seeing our students in person and are working hard to get our distance learning ready for all students.

We wanted to touch base regarding a few important items. We know this is a lot of information, we will resend this message with updates over the next couple of weeks and also have all of this information on our website.

First and foremost, if you come to the school, please stay in your vehicle and let the person out front know what you need.  Luckily, SMS is a food distribution site, so we have someone here everyday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. They have a radio and will contact someone in the office to help you. If you are dropping things off our person out front will have a bag to put the item in. Thank you for your help with this as we try to follow all guidelines for keeping people healthy!

Google Meet - Many teachers are setting up a Google Meet check in for their classes.  Not all teachers will be doing this.  Please make sure your student checks their school email for the invitation. An important piece we want to emphasize is that teachers will not be doing individual Google Meets with students.  Please make sure you emphasize to your student that they should only work with their teachers at the time they are invited to.  The District is working very hard to make sure all students have connectivity, if you are not able to do a Google Meet, please understand they are not required.  We will still be doing packets for students that need them.

Chrome books - If you need a chrome book for your student please stop by the school between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 pm. Monday thru Friday. Let the person out front know that you need a chrome book and your student’s name, they will radio in, we will document the number and bring it out.

Yearbooks - Families can still order a yearbook. Yearbooks are $30. We expect them to arrive around June 4 and then will send out a plan for pickup when they arrive. There are three ways to order a yearbook.

1. Stanwood Middle School website, drop down menu FOR FAMILIES, select Online Payments
2. Mail a check to Stanwood Middle School, 9405 271st Street NW, Stanwood, Wa 98292, please include the student name and yearbook in the subject line.
3. Drop off cash (exact change) or check (in an envelope) at Stanwood Middle School between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 pm. Monday thru Friday. Make sure that it is clear that it is for a yearbook and the student name.

If you need to verify that you ordered a yearbook for you student please call our office between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 pm. Monday thru Friday.

Lockers, gym lockers, instruments, uniforms, library books, etc. - We have bagged up all items from our lockers at SMS.  If you have something to pick up please come to the school between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 pm. Monday thru Friday. Let the person know out front who you are, what you are picking up, and they will radio in to the office.  If you are dropping off library books, uniforms, yearbook checks, or instruments you can put them in a bag that the person out front will have.  Thank you for patience with this process, we have over a hundred bags of alphabetized items to hand back and anticipate lots of drop offs as well.  We have cones out front to keep cars moving and will have extra help on hand Monday to help the process flow smoothly.

We are also attaching a pdf of resources from OSPI that the district would like families to have.

Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have questions or concerns.  You can email me at anytime,

Also, you can call our office between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 pm. Monday thru Friday.

Thank you so much for your patience as we work through this difficult time!  We miss our students!!
