Weekend Food Program for Stanwood and Camano Island Area Students

Weekend Food Program for Stanwood and Camano Island Area Students

Dear Families,

We at Stanwood-Camano Food Bank Services understand that times are tough for families in our community.

This letter is to encourage families to take advantage of our weekend meal parcel program, formerly known as the “HOPE, Meals for Kids Backpack Program,” now known as “Meals ‘til Monday."

We feel this name change better represents the nature of the program and the services it offers. Other ongoing updates include greater variety in the rotation of foods included in the weekend meal parcels, and tailoring those foods to better serve varying age groups.

To answer some frequently asked questions we receive about the program:

  • A “meal parcel” is a clear bag filled with non-perishable items. Each student may receive 1 parcel to take home each Friday during the year. Two parcels will be available for each student ahead of Winter and Spring breaks.
  • Foods included in the parcels are a mix of snacks and meal items to help get your child through the weekend. We strive to include nutritious, calorically dense, diverse, and usable items.
  • Deliveries will be pre-packed and delivered to local schools’ front offices for students to take home either Thursdays or Fridays every week. This may change for weather, Holidays and/or conferences.
  • Distribution of the parcels is school-dependent; all parcels will be distributed discreetly in a way that preserves dignity for every child in need of assistance.

If interested, please fill out this slip and return to School Office Staff Stanwood Camano Food Bank does not record any personal information of families who participate.
